I have worked in the fashion industry for over 20 years. I have had experience as a photographer for both adult and child models. I have also worked as a booker for some of the best child modelling agencies in Australia. Here are some tips on how to get your start in the fashion industry.

Child clothing brands are always looking for great kid models to represent their brands.

First step is to take amazing digitals. Digitals are simple photographs. Digitals are taken to show your natural features therefore they are best to be taken with no makeup. Take a great head shot and a great body shot.  Digitals are very important because clients often want to see  you unedited, as natural as you can be. This helps them decide whether you are best suited for their brand.

Second step is to find a great modelling agency for kids. Find an agency who is going to pay attention to you.

Third step is to listen to your booker and take their advice on how to enhance your modelling career. Bookers have your best interests as a model in mind. They may advise you on which clothes are best to wear, how to wear your hair and how to conduct yourself at a shoot.

Fourth step is to learn how to shoot in front of a photographer. Learn your best angles and learn a few great poses that you can use on set. This will be great for both the photographer and the client so that you can give the client the shots they need fast and effectively.
